My neighbour has Guinea Hens. Should I be worried?
My neighbour has Guinea Hens. Should I be worried?
My next-door neighbour has Guinea Hens which free range. I think he raised them from day-olds in the fall. We hear them squawking in the trees, and one was in one of our trees the other day.
Should I be worried about them coming over here and messing up my veggie garden in the summer?
I hear that they can terrorize chickens?!?!?!

I would think of it as lovely free dinner, if one of your dogs "finds" one in your garden

If you don't plant the tree, you will never have the fruit...

Very funny OC, but what makes you think that my dogs would share? {LOL}

I would think it's worth having them just to get rid of ticks.

I agree with OC. My mother's neighbour has hens and once or twice a hen has wandered over and the dog got it.
I do believe that free ranging chickens also eat ticks.

My guineas have only ever eaten bugs from the garden. They have never dug up or eaten the plants like chickens do... I would not worry about that. But the noise.... Ug they are soooo noisy. They do taste good-like pheasant....

I ate the 2 guineas we had because they were so aggressive to my Tom turkeys despite the turkeys being penned separately. Noise was not so bad and our neighbour liked it because it warned him when something was up with his cattle too. We found that if they did kick up you had better go check!
